Rene`s Cottage is a thatched traditional fisherman`s cottage at the entrance to Cadgwith Cove. Henry Jane was one of those very fishermen and also coxswain of the Cadgwith lifeboat. He lived there many years with his wife Irene (Rene). You can relax in front of the glowing woodburner as the winter storms lash the cove and imagine the coxswain hearing the maroons from many of the wrecks that hit the rocks close by. You can also wake up here on a sunny morning and just listen to the seagulls and the waves outside – this is a carefully modernised iconic property close to the pub, restaurant, craft shops and beach from which the local fishing boats depart for sea. No holiday would be complete without sampling a freshly caught lobster or crab. This is a wonderful place to stay!

We had a wonderful week in Cadgwith at Rene's Cottage. It is a lovely cottage which we would recommend to others. The only thing that could be improved is the sofa, which was not very comfortable. We also had difficulty with the parking spot, scraping the underside of the car when parking and leaving. [Note from the owner - the parking area is being levelled - Jan 2018.]

A wonderful four days - a delightful birthday treat. Rene's Cottage has a very interesting history and the village seems to have retained a lovely sense of community. We have enjoyed some beautiful weather, allowing us to walk the coastal paths and swim in the sea.
