Property details

Corner House, as featured in English Cottage Interiors by Hugh Lander, is a delightful traditional fisherman`s cottage. It is full of character with a lovely old polished Cornish range at one end of the 22 ft living room. Situated only 100 yards from the sea, the cottage stands at the beginning of one of the cliff walks, which runs to an old mill and then on to Kennack Sands. A visitor once wrote "the house wrapped its arms around us immediately and gave us a big hug. We loved it!!"

ACCOMMODATION: GROUND FLOOR: LIVING/DINING ROOM: with Cornish range and "fringle" (an old bread oven) now used to keep coal for the open fire. Sky digital TV, DVD and CD player. KITCHEN: with south facing stable door to look out on the cliff path, new electric cooker, fridge, freezer, dishwasher and microwave. BATHROOM: with bath, shower and washbasin. FIRST FLOOR: DOUBLE BEDROOM: with views along the coast path. TWIN BEDROOM. SINGLE BEDROOM. WC: with small basin. PATIO: completely private small rear patio providing a veritable suntrap, table and chairs provided. HEATING: night storage and solid fuel (coal incl. in rental). PARKING: spaces can be found in the cove and there is a season ticket for the main car park 500 yards away. SPECIAL NOTES: tea towels provided; the cottage has low beams and doorways so it may be necessary to duck now and again! Electricity is supplied by a £1 coin meter. Security Deposit: £100.

Guest book

It was a pleasure and a privilege to stay in Corner House. The love that has gone into everything just beams out, creating a wonderful atmosphere which is unique. We loved coming back after a windy/rainy/sunny cliff walk, lighting the fire and brewing up. (A wonderful collection of marine books too). Don't miss the fishermen singing in the pub on Friday nights, when you'll get a warm welcome from the landlord and his wife. The folk night on Tuesdays is also worth a visit. Leggy's pasties in Ruan Minor are great - a 10 minute walk up the road. Too many things to see and do to mention. A very special treat and we will come back to Cadgwith and wonderful Corner House.

Cadgwith cove is a delightful place to stay, with great walks both inland and along the coast paths. The pub is friendly, with good food and beer, and could not be much closer to Corner House. The cottage is interesting and quirky. In March it is a bit cold unless sitting close to the open fire as the night storage heating is a bit ineffective for the size of the cottage. We had lovely weather but very cold nights. Corner House would benefit from the addition of one or two lamps in the living room that would be bright enough to read by. Overall an enjoyable stay in a beautiful place.
